Written Examination Syllabus Test Pattern & Scheme
The written Exam will consist of two papers (Paper-I and Paper-II, to be conducted on the one day in the same Exam Venue.
Syllabus of Paper-I: First Paper will consist of multiple-choice objective type questions, bilingual (Hindi/English), on General Awareness, Logical Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and/ knowledge of the discipline/trade. Exam Paper contains 120 objective questions, each question of equal marks. Negative marking will be applicable. For each wrong reply 1 /3 marks will be deducted from obtained marks. The period given for attempting paper first will be 1.5 hours duration. Written Test for Maintainer post will consist of one paper only.
Detailed Syllabus and Patters for Paper-II: (Not for Maintainers post, NE10) will consist of objective type multiple choice questions (MCQ) on General English to calculate the knowledge of English language. This paper contains 60 questions, every question of equal marks. Negative Marking will be applicable for paper II. For each wrong answer 1 /3 marks will be deducted. The Time allotted for paper second will be 45 minutes’ duration.
Contenders who cleared the Paper-I & Paper-II separately and get high Merit on the merit list within the zone of consideration in (Both Paper-I & Paper-II separately) as declared by DMRC shall be invited, based on the Written Exam (both Paper-I & Paper-II together), for Personal Interview/GD/skill test/Psycho test/Medical test, at Delhi/NCR. Maintainers will have only one paper.
Points to Be Noted: Examination may be organized Offline (OMR based) or Online (Computer based) mode.
Skill Test / Practical Test in Stenography: The skill test will be of Qualifying Nature. The candidates will have to participate for the stenography test. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English at the speed of 80 w.p.m. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only. The transcription time will be of 40 minutes (English). Aspirants (for all category of posts) invited for GD/Personal interview/Skill Test/Psycho Test/Medical examination, as the case may be, at Delhi and shall be paid to & fro sleeper class Railway fare for journey by the shortest route between Railway Station nearest to hometown & Delhi. No reimbursement shall be made to the candidates appearing for the written examination.
Character & Antecedents: The success in the examination does not confer any right to appointment unless the corporation is satisfied after such an inquiry, as may be considered necessary, that the candidate having regard to his/her character and antecedents is suitable in all respects for appointment to the service.
